- The Martell balloon glass
- Andrée Putman

- 2006
- Imagine the creative freedom of modern design allied to the sumptuousness of traditional, hand-cut crystal, and you begin to understand the perfect match between celebrated interior designer Andrée Putnam and the cognac house of Martell. Putman harnessed her renowned design flair to create a limited-edition Martell balloon glass. The fruit of a union of tradition and modernity, the delicate crystal was etched with a spiral by Putnam to imitate the ribbon on Martell’s famous Cordon Bleu cognac bottle, conveying a sense of infinite energy and grace. The resulting glass mirrors the independent spirit that unites Andrée Putman and Jean Martell, the founder of Martell. For both, challenge has brought the opportunity to create something new and fresh, to counter preconceived ideas and embrace innovation.

- Martell Création Grand Extra
- Serge Mansau
- 2007
- Serge Mansau is widely recognised as one of the foremost, creative glass artists in the world of luxury goods. Martell entrusted him with designing the Martell Creation Grand Extra decanter. Passionate and discerning, Serge Mansau highlights through his design how Martell bridges the gap between cognac tradition and today’s lifestyle. Characterised by its triple arch, the Martell Creation Grand Extra decanter is testimony to this link. “It is a modern shape, but one which is steeped in history. The arch is a universal form encountered in all civilizations and a symbol of triumph. At once Roman arch, trophy and poetic alchemy, the decanter brings life to emptiness, as does music to silence…” writes the designer of his work.<br/>
Mansau drew inspiration from the themes of creative power and magic, themes that find resonance in the making of cognac. His design plays upon our emotions, engaging the senses, especially through the experience of handling the decanter. Every detail, meticulously worked, evokes refinement and draws us into the world of Martell.

- Martell Cordon Bleu
- Miles Aldridge

- 2009
- The second artist after Paolo Roversi to apply his talents to Martell Cordon Bleu’s advertising, British photographer Miles Aldridge captures the timeless essence of Cordon Bleu in his own unique way. Aldridge’s fiercely original, carefully crafted perspective has earned him assignments with the world’s leading magazines and fashion’s most iconic designers over the past decade. Focusing his hyper-realistic style and cinematographic perception on Martell Cordon Bleu, Aldridge created a deceptively simple image whose bold lines and brilliant colours evoke an intriguing and luxurious atmosphere of sophisticated enjoyment. “My idea was that this was like a modern Great Gatsby, a party of beautiful and privileged people,” Aldridge said. The distinctive Martell Cordon Bleu bottle is portrayed beside the swimming pool of the Stahl House in Los Angeles, revealing the location’s stunning modernity. The beautifully stylish setting of smouldering blues and golden hues creates a fascinating mix of sensuality and urbanity.

- Martell XO Architect Edition
- Paul Andreu

- 2009
- The creativity inherent in the making of Martell’s beautifully balanced XO blend is echoed in the partnership between Paul Andreu, the renowned French architect of China’s National Grand Theatre in Beijing, and Martell, the oldest of the major cognac houses. This productive alliance yielded an outstanding creation: the Paul Andreu Exclusive Architect Edition. As with Andreu’s other architectural projects, it was his unique perspective on space and the use of materials that guided his approach to the Martell XO Exclusive Architect Edition. An elegantly designed, protective shell encases the distinctive, arch-shaped bottle. The transparent vault lets the light through, magnifying the cognac’s amber colour slowly acquired over many years of maturation in cask. This very translucence distances the viewers and yet invites them in to experience Martell XO in all its subtlety.
